Security SystemsCCTV, Alarms, Intercoms & Access Control
The security side of an electrician's job — hardwired CCTV systems, house alarms, video intercoms for front gates, access control for granny flats and rural shed entries. Cabling, install and integration done properly.
What I install
Alarm systems
Hardwired sensors (PIR motion, door reed switches, glass break), keypad, control panel, monitored or self-monitored.
Video intercoms
Front-gate camera with a screen and unlock button inside. Common on hills acreage with a long driveway and a locked gate.
Access control
Keypad or card-reader entry on side doors, granny flat doors, rural shed entries. Strike locks wired into the door frame.
Integration
Connecting CCTV + alarm + intercom into one app or one keypad where possible. Keeps the customer experience simple.
Common jobs east of the river
Mundaring acreage main entry
Front-gate intercom (video), strike lock, internal handset. Three-day job including the cable run from gate to house under the driveway.
Caversham winery cellar door
Alarm system covering customer area, tasting bar and back-of-house wine storage. Hardwired sensors, monitored.
Midvale rental property
Break-in pattern in the area, owner wanted hardwired alarm + CCTV. Tenant-friendly install (no exposed wiring).
Helena Valley granny flat
Keypad entry on the granny flat door, separate code from the main house.
What to SMS
Sketch or rough description of the property and what you want covered — gate, doors, areas. Photo of the meter box and the comms point in the house (for power and network).
FAQs
Can you tie my alarm into my phone?
Yes — most modern panels support app monitoring and notifications. Hikvision, Bosch, Paradox systems all do it cleanly. Older hardwired panels can sometimes be retrofitted with a comms module.
Wireless or hardwired alarm?
Hardwired for new builds and major renovations — more reliable, no battery replacements every couple of years. Wireless for retrofits where running cable would mean tearing up plaster.
Front gate intercom on a 200m driveway?
Yes — but cable run, gate power and the comms link all need scoping first. Big acreage jobs can need a small solar setup at the gate end.
